Opening an .adb file (created with ARIS 7.1) with ARIS Architect 9.8

Dear ladies and gentlemen,

for my master thesis I have to analyze process models. 
I received models as an .adb file which I cannot open with ARIS Architect & Designer 9.8 (free student version). 
According to the modeler the modeling was done with the 7.1-version of ARIS.

Could you please tell me:
a) how to convert the .adb file so I can open it with ARIS Architect 9.8, or
b) if I could get an old (and free) 7.1-version of ARIS?

Hi,

What kind of issue was in ARIS 9? Also can you write the full version of ARIS 7? For this just open .adb file with ZIP/RAR (it just archive), there is file version.txt, there you can find version. In that case it is possible to say something what is wrong with your file.

Of course, if it is not commercial information you can send your .adb file to our technical support (info@bps.org.ua), we will try to find the solution

Download ARIS Express:

http://www.ariscommunity.com/aris-express

And try to open .adb file, to check if it a problem of version.

When trying to restore/import the .adb-file the following message occurs:

     Unable to import database.

     The ADB file to be restored originates from an invalid version.

     Restoring this content is not supported.

As you suggested I opened the .adb-file with WinRAR and the version.txt file says:

ARIS-version=6.2.3.40713

Before using ARIS Architect & Designer 9.8 I tried to open it with the current ARIS Express version. Then I found out that you can't open .adb-files with ARIS Express, but you can open them with ARIS Architect & Designer.
