Hi,
I am doing an a project that requires me to assess certain aspects of a company's current Business Processes and their modelling techniques used by them.
It has been established that the company's business processes are currently to complex with hardly any modularity and reuse. So thats definitely one area of improvement.
I was wondering if there is some sort of Best Practice guidelines that can be followed to asses what the problems are with the company's current BPM and how these problems can be potentially solved by following some guidelined approach.
Thanks,
Anuj Kumar
Hi Anuj,
Best practice guidelines are always shifting, depending on the business area of the company and their strategic goals. A best practice for company A for example is not a BP for company B.
In my opinion you should consider to start with their strategy and what's important to achieve by use of BPM. From there you can break down to key-indicators and assess them.
For example if standardization is a hot topic because one of their company goals is to create best value for money, you can check if they categorize similar processes.
If you follow this path and listen very carefully to key stakeholders you can create a thorough advice that will sell itself.
Please also check how the organization and governance is arranged because a perfect modeling approach is not going to work without having a proper organization and clear governance.
