Hi everybody,

just started to use ARIS express (free version) and my question is regarding the usage of the tool.

I'm trying to allign the headers within pools or lanes vertically, i.e. the header should be top-down / bottom-up oriented, rather than right-to-left.

Feel free to respond in any available language (english / german / russian), I would appreciate any support.

Regards,

Ariel Shvedchenko.

Hi Ariel,

well, the texts never show vertical in a horizontal pool, if that is the question. ARIS is generally - at least not yet - able to draw vertical texts.

If you want to have a vertical pool: click the pool symbol in the symbol bar, press the left mouse button down (do not release it yet!) and move the mouse, so you can create a vertical pool.

If the height of the pool is bigger than its width, a vertical pool will be created.

Bye,

Frank

Is it possible to convert an existing landscape BPMN flow into a portrait orientation?  Or  would you have to copy objects from one diagram to the other?

Hi,

yes, Express can help you here.

If you open the model, you can choose "Arrange/Layout" and choose the corresponding layout orientation.

Frank

Arrange/layout only changes the page orientation from landscape to portrait.  It doesn't change the horizontal swim lanes to vertical ones, which is what I was trying to achieve.

Hi,

ok, now I got the point. No, changing the pool orientation is not possible at the moment.

Bye,

Frank

Hi Frank,

Is changing the pool orientation possible now? It does´t seem so. Considering a vertical layout would certainly help here in Asia matching vertical writing/thinking. We Europeans and likewise SAP may think ´left to right´ but it´s Asian counterpart UFIDA may pefer ´top down´...

Is there a roadmap for enabling vertical pools/lanes within Aris Express?

I am looking forward to hearing from you;-)

Thorsten

PS: Just found Aris Express today. Excellent tool.
