Hello Community!

Happy New Year, and all the best for 2017!

I have a customer requirement that hyperlinks generated from the ARIS Connect Portal, either via the 'Share Model' mini workflow, or via copying the URL from the browser address bar, should direct the user to the 'Diagram' tab / factsheet where the URL target is a model.  Currently, the system behaviour is that the 'Overview' tab for the model is displayed for all users following any hyperlinks to content that has an associated diagram.

Does anyone know if it is possible to default the 'diagram' tab to be the view that is opened when following a URL to model based content?

Note, we are using a custom variant of the 'classic' view configuration set.

Thanks in advance,

Ben

Dear Ben,

There's no URL parameter available to target a specific Connect tab, so called Connect fact sheets. Instead, configure the Diagram tab to show up as first tab in the Connect configuration. I think Self-Service Configuration isn't capable of providing that, but the technical (XML-files based) configuration for sure does that.

Cheers

Rune

Hi Rune,

Thanks for the response.  I've had a look at the associated documentation for the technical view configuration (attached) for the customer's release of ARIS Connect (9.8 SR4), but I'm struggling to identify the files that will require modification.  Do you happen to know which files will need adapting?  I'm assuming this configuration is at item level, defining the order of display of the constituent fact sheets, and that the change will simply to be to shift the XML-tag for the 'Diagram' fact sheet to be ahead of the 'Overview' tag.

Do you know the technical names of either the process / model item and / or the Diagram and Overview factsheets?

Many Thanks,

Ben

Hi Rune,

I appreciate that performing large scale changes that affect the view configuration at a fundamental level should be undertaken by someone who has received the appropriate training, but in this case we need to make a conceptually simple change to the order that some tabs are displayed.  Across a large user base, where links to specific models are being shared in relatively high volumes, this simple change would significantly improve the user experience and general perception of the tool from an end user, 'consumer' / Connect Viewer perspective.

If you (or anyone else in the community) are able to help out in identifying how this change can be achieved, it would be greatly appreciated.  After internal discussion with the customer, the issue can not justify the expense of an external 3 day training.

Many Thanks,

Ben

Hello Ben,

did you find a solution for making the diagram view the default view for process models?

The portal configuration doc of Aris 9.8.6 still states that "the order of the views is not changeable" in self-service configuration.

Thanks, Martin

Hello Ben,

We have done the configuration for a customer for the exact same reason you mentioned. Improving the user experience. We switched the view to have Diagram first and then the other tabs. We have also included a tab Legend that provide how to read symbols and content. We have two consultants that have been through the training and are doing those customization of ARIS Connect Portal for many customers.

Send me a personal email to tanguy.petre@imendos.com and we'll provide some support for this changes.

Kind regards,

Tanguy
