Hi,
When linking documents to 'activities' or other objects (via the 'Link' attribute), when the link is displayed within the model, the whole document path is shown. This results in very messy diagrams if the path to the document is long.
It would be nice to be able to use a 'title' for a linked document as in current versions of ARIS, with a choice of whether to show the full path or simply a title. For example a document link of
C:\Documents and Settings\chris.manders\My Documents\ARIS Express Analysis.xls
could just be shown as 'ARIS Express Analysis'
Thanks,
Chris
Hi Chris,
good point. We are thinking about a solution here, something like the "hyperlink" dialog in MS Word: some usefull dialog, where you can specify the name of the link and the link itsself. Thus, you do only show the name/title of the link, but not the hole adress/link itself.
Bye,
Frank
Hi Chris,
There is a way to achieve this by a workaround partly described in this discussion.
The path to the linked document behind the attribute can be hidden by re-sizing the link attribute field. Once it has been hidden, a free-form text can be inserted next to the Excel icon. The result can then look something like this:

Harry,
Thanks for the workaround, I will use this for the moment. It's good to know there is a way to achieve the desired affect, although obviously a less time consuming and more user friendly solution would be preferable.
Frank, I'm glad to hear the issue is being analysed.
Regards,
Chris
