I had a local installation of ARIS 9.5 on my laptop. I inserted the ARIS 9.7 CD and ran the Set up file. The installation did not complete, an installation error was generated. I unistalled ARIS 9.5 and ran the set up file again. The following error displays "An internal developer version is installed. You cannot update this version. Do you want to unistall now?" I click Next to proceed to do the uninstall. After completion I run the set uo file again to get to the same error. Please advice on what I need to do install ARIS 9.7 on the laptop

Dear Christa,

After ARIS was uninstalled and you closed the setup, did you check in the ARIS installation folder that really all files/folders were deleted (except backup)? If there are still some files/folders left, remove those left-overs via Windows Explorer, before installing ARIS 9.7 again.

And just let me mention again the minimum hardware requirements for a local ARIS 9.7 installation:

  • 8 GB physically installed RAM (with 6 GB available/free)
  • 20 GB free disk space

I also recommend to install the newest ARIS 9.7, which is Service Release 3, released mid of May:

Hi Rune

Thanks for the response. I am unable to Uninstall ARIS 9.7. In Control panel /  Uninstall or change program, I launch uninstall. It does not remove ARIS from the list of installed programs. If I check the all programs in explorer there is NO ARIS 9 installation. I have ARIS 7 still installed in the same laptop. Could that be the problem?

If there's really no ARIS anymore installed but only the item listed in Control Panel/Uninstall... then you get rid of that item via Registry Editor:

  • Open Registry Editor or start regedit.exe
  • Navigate to folder

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersions\Uninstall
  • Search for "ARIS" and delete all subfolders in where you found ARIS items

    e.g {4D67D32B-9E7D-4DF6-AF91-F7FE3C1B2DE8} and {C4608C60-C377-401C-B96F-32081C8010FE}
  • Then navigate to folder

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SoftwareAG\LOG
  • Delete all "ARIS" folders

I think after that the left-overs are gone and ARIS 9.7 setups should work smoothly.

Cheers
