Hi all,
how can predefined patterns (fragments) be shared in ARIS 9.x
In ARIS 7.x it was a nightmare and i hope there is an improvement in place :-)
The idea behind: The Administrator defines in the ARIS Architect the company specific patterns (fragments) and distribute them to the Modellers (ARIS Designer-Users)
Thx for any help
Markus
Hi,
no, still a nightmare :-)
To be honest: this feature was planned to be a relief for the single user. For the distribution, there are multiple ideas how to handle your request, e.g. there is the idea of template models etc... This all is still in discussion, but for now, there is no change.
You still need to distribute the files to the client machines.
Bye,
Frank
Hello Markus and Frank,
I am with you about the nightmare re. patterns/fragments, because even if the intention was good, there was no way to resolve inconsistencies between user generated patterns and the server side modeling convention (method filter) or to propagate changes in the server's method filter onto the client-side patterns.
What is planned about this with regard to the download clients in ARIS 9?
It would be helpful for Admins, if they could make the pattern files available on the server as part of a configuration for the download clients. Doesn't solve it for the "fat" installer clients, but we try to avoid those more and more.
Regards, Martin
Hi Martin,
handling of this is just one of many topics on our list... so right now, we'd like to improve this, but there are no precise tasks planned. This is all under discussion, but I cannot give you an ETA of anything.
You can use empower to share your requirements with us.
Bye,
Frank
Hi,
the files for the patterns are placed on the user's local machine.
Thus, you need to create the patterns on one client and copy the directory to the other user's folder.
The directory is the one called "Pattern".
Have a look in your %userprofile%, in the sub folder "ARIS10" or "ARIS90". The, again, in the subfolder for the tenant and the server.
Bye,
Frank
Hi Frank,
Thank you, yes we are aware that they are on the local machine of the users. The request is to be able to either change the global ones that automatically appear for all users (specifically the one used for the model "header"), or to be able to create new fragments that are available for all users ie. on a server level. Hope that clarifies.
Thanks,
Fran
