Hi, we are looking for a model type like the EPC (Column) where at the top instead of Org/System objects we can place Function objects and risk underneath to create non visible connections.  How do we change the object type that is allowed in that column, or is there a way to create a new model type where we can specify function type object on the first row and then risk objects underneath.

Thanks in advance

I think what you are looking for is called a Matrix.

Getting started with Matrix:

  1. Create a new Matrix by right clicking on a Group, "New" > "Matrix" (NOT "New" > "Model" like you would usually add a model).
  2. After going through this very short Matrix creation assistant, you first want to name what the columns and rows contain. Do so by double clicking on one half of the split cell in the first column, first row (where it says "undefined"), and filling the "Title" text-box.
  3. After that select the second column, first row cell. Now you can use the "Insert Object" menu in the "Start" register to populate your columns with risk object occurrences. Creating completely new object definitions, as well as adding objects for which a definition already exists are supported. Note that this "adding" simply creates new occurrences with the risk object definitions.
  4. Almost the same thing for the functions. Select the first column, second row cell, and use the "Insert Object" menu once again to populate the columns. The only difference occurs after wanting to add objects: Now you'll be asked which connections could exist between your function and your risks. Note that this only means the connections could exist, which connections afterwards actually exist can be decided on a case-to-case basis.
  5. Now you are all set to create the connections. The cells where populated columns and rows cross should have turned from gray to white, and you can create invisible connections by setting ticks with double clicking such a white cell. If you've only chosen one possible connection type, the tick will just be set and the connection implied. If you've selected multiple connection types you'll be asked which connections you actually want to create, before the tick is set.
  6. Example matrix:

I hope this helps and is actually what you are looking for.

Edit: corrected typo.

Thanks so much Kay,  I will do that for them and maybe they can use it.  They actually looking for something more like the EPC Column display where you can put your objects directly into the columns.  If only i could change the top object type to be of type function the problem will be solved :)
