SK

Hi,

I am working with ARIS 10 - ARIS Cloud Enterprise environment.

I am able to access ARIS online through ARIS Connect and ARIS Administration, however I am having issues downloading ARIS Architect/Designer to complete the required setup/configuration.

Basically it does not download. I am asked to download the latest version of Java prior to download but due to company policy I have been told I am unable to update it. Does anyone know if this would be causing the issue? I am running Java Version 8 Update 25.

Also, just to confirm (little new to ARIS), I would be unable to complete the required setup of ARIS (databases, filters, templates etc.) using ARIS Connect and need to have Architect/Designer downloaded to do this?

Thanks.

Java 8 update 25 is fine.

Which browser are you using? You are using a browser still supporting applets, right?

Could you paste the content of the java console?

Bye,

Frank

Using Internet Explorer.

Below is the Java content. Let me know if you need the rest of it.

ARIS is currently starting. Please wait...

Hi,

I think the problem was that the download was stopped. Parts of the download seem to be done, but not completely (or better: extracting the downloaded zip).

Have a look in this directory: C:\Users\username\ARIS10\DownloadClient/companyname.ariscloud.com_-1/lib

This directory should contain the extracted file (should be around 220 files or so). This is most likely not the case.

So just delete the content in this folder and start download again, and wait until it is finished and all files are extracted. Do not close the browser window until this is finished (because this would shut down the applet). If the download does not succeed, please post the content of the JAVA console again here.

Bye,

Frank

Hi,

The download did not work (see complete JAVA console content below). I am also trying to work it out with the IT department to determine if there is an issue there.

Thanks.

The client ZIP is not identified as a ZIP archive. It was saved here for you to check whether the proxy server has provided the correct file: C:\Users\username\ARIS10\DownloadClient\companyname.ariscloud.com_-1\lib\clientzipstream.file

Unable to check client.zip. Attempting to unpack anyway...

Hi,

the client is actually downloaded from this address: https://companyname.ariscloud.com/abs/downloadClient/lib/client.zip

On this location, no zip file was loaded/deliverd, that was the actual client.zip.

Have a look here: C:\Users\username\ARIS10\DownloadClient/companyname.ariscloud.com_-1/lib/client.zip

Check the content of this file, if it exists. We had e.g. the case, that this file was blocked, but instead, an html file was deliverd from the network infrastructure. The test in the logging above failes, since the client.zip archive is not delivered from "https://companyname.ariscloud.com/abs/downloadClient/lib/client.zip"

Do you changed the logging before pasting it here? I'm just wondering what "companyname" is. If you did not change it, then most likely something else is wrong.

Bye,

Frank

Hi,

Yeah I changed the name of the company I work for to a generic "companyname".

I have downloaded the client now from the link posted above (changing "companyname" to the actual company name), thanks.

However I am unsure how to proceed as the directory: C:\Users\username\ARIS10DownloadClient/companyname.ariscloud.com_-1/lib still only has 2 files?

Thanks.

As I wrote:

Please check this  file.

Most likely this folder only contains the client.zip and a y-aris-client-loader.jar.

How big is the client.zip? Can you attach it here?

The C:\Users\username\ARIS10\DownloadClient/companyname.ariscloud.com_-1/lib/client.zip folder only contains two files y-aris-client-loader.jar and clientzipstream.file.

The client zip has 220 files but I am unable to attach it.

Difficult to examine this via the community.

do you/your company have a maintenance contract? Then go to Empower(link is external)(link is external), the customer portal of Software AG, and create a support ticket.

Hello, Frank

I have a similar problem loading a client through Connect. The "C:\Users\<user_profile>\ARIS10\DownloadClient" folder is not created at all.

System parameters:

                       IE 11

                       Java version: 1.8.0_192

                       Total available memory (MB): 676.6875

                       Operating System: Windows 10

                       Operating System Version: 10.0

                       Operating System Archtecture: x86

                       JRE System Archtecture: 32

On neighboring computers of the same subnet with the same system parameters, the client is correctly launched.

When the user selects the link http://<server>/#default/downloadclients,

a window opens with choices after pressing the button for the desired option, in the browser a gray tab appears asking it not to close, nothing else happens.

Please tell me how to solve this problem?

Hi,

you are using Internet Explorer, and the settings of your system still allow applets.

Solutions:

1.) ask your IT in order to clarify, why applets are not started on your installation.

- or -

2.) ask cloud team to switch to the JAR launcher

- or -

3.) use another browser, e.g. chrome. Chrome will deliver the JAR launcher anyway.

You can easily just try "3.)". You will receive a JAR file. Just double click this file (you do know that you need an Java JRE installed, do you?)

Bye,

Frank

Thank you, Frank.

Java Runtime Environment already installed on this computer.

Also I try launch Connect on various accounts, I copied the folder to the problem computer from the computer where the launch of the ARIS Designer was successful, but it does not solve the problem.

I'll ask IT support to reinstall JRE and install Chrome browser.

After that, I will write about the result (I hope this will help other users who have a similar problem).

Hello Frank.

After reinstalling JRE to version 1.8.0_192, the thin client started successfully!

(May be installed JRE was corrupted)

We still used IE 11. Thank you very much!
