Is it possible to extract process models created in Aris back into Visio instead of images? If so how? I am aware that you can import process model from visio into Aris tool but not sure if the reverse is possible
Hello Mr. Lekhi,
the purpose of the Visio interface is to enable a one time data transfer for the customer. A rount trip scenario between ARIS and Visio lies not in the scope of this functionality. This is the reason why only one direction (from Visio to ARIS) is available.

Uwe
I'm using ARIS 7.2 and Visio 2003 and this is how I do it:
- In Visio, resave your vsd file to the XML Drawing (*.vdx) format.
- In ARIS as an Architect (import doesn't work for my designer license), create or point to the folder where you want the model to be created.
- Click on File in the top menu, or right click the folder.
- Click on Import, then click on Visio VDX files...
- A navigation box will open, navigate and highlight the Visio .vdx file you just created. Click open.
- ARIS will import the Visio VDX file into the folder as the most relevant model ARIS has available. (i.e, if it was a Visio EPC model, it will create it as an ARIS EPC model).
- Not all objects will translate perfectly, but it will be pretty close.
Hope this helps, good luck.
Tracy, Rick,
Thank you for your help. With Tracy's instruction, i was able to convert vsd to vdx and import into ARIS. As Tracy mentioned, the translation is not perfect, theres a lot of other "things" imported into Aris as well.
Is there a way to convert vsd to vdx in mass. I have over 200 vsd files to import into Aris.
Thank you!
