Hi,

I try to install Aris Express with the executable on a windows 7 system with java 7 installed, but all I get is a notification that Java-Runtime-Version 1.6.0_10 or above not found.

So I installed the latest version of Java 6 as well, getting the same error afterwards.

I had more luck installing with the JNLP file AFTER I disabled the code verification of Java 7 (advanced option -> security at the java controll panel).

Just to let you know :)

Hi,

thank you very much for you information. Just one question: could you do me a favor and check which version is really used?

If you open the java control panel, advanced settings, activate the java console and have a look at the output when express starts.

Bye,

Frank

Hi,

I have the same problem on a Windows XP SP3 system but no clue how to implement the mentioned workaround - I can't find no java controlpanel - coul you please give me a hint.

My java version is:

java version "1.7.0"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0-b147)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 21.0-b17, mixed mode, sharing)

The java control panel should be sitting in your normal windows control panel. It should be called plain "Java" or "Java (32-bit)" depending on your installation. You could also try starting the javacpl.exe in your "<java root folder>\bin" directory.

Hello Mr. Müller,

Thank you for your answer. I was able to install Arris Exprress after deinstalling java version "1.7.0" and installing java version "1.6.0.10". Hope it will still work if I upgrade to "1.7.0" but I guess it's just an installation issue.

Kind Regards,

Andresas Tolpeit

Hello,

any progress on this topic yet? I installed the JDK (that is supposed to include JRE) 1.7.0 but received also the same error message + no bypass is possible to my knowledge:

I checked the JREs on my system and found 1 system and 3 user JRE:

So everything looks OK on the Java side. But why this error message then when trying to start 'aris-express-setup.exe'?

Clicking 'Yes' doe not help either, meaning that the installation program does NOT install any JRE at all:

When will this issue be resolved? I hope the answer will be ASAP because it is a blocking situation.

Regards,

Dominiek

Hello Mr. Pollet,

DON'T use the "aris-express-setup.exe" - use the other download option, the JNLP file.

Read my first post in this topic.

Hello Hannes,

Of course I read your first topic but, being a business process analyst and not an IT-guy, I did not understand that JNLP-file equals the button "Free download for other systems".

Suggestion for ARIS guys: please provide only 1 (working) download option, as "Free download for other systems" also works for Windows. Why making it complicater than needed? Don't tell me it is because of the extra shortcut icon you get with the Windows download, that can be made manually too (even by a non-IT-guy like me :-) ).

Anyway, for all other non-IT-oriented modeling guys & girls, this is how you should set your Java security settings (look in Configuration Panel) in order to make ARIS Express work with Java 1.7.0:

Happy modeling!

Hi again,

sorry, sometimes I turn enduser-blind ^.^

Glad it worked for you anyway :)

Cheers,

Hi there.

I went through the steps above but they seem not to work with Aris Express 2.3. I spent hours trying to install it.  I keep receiving these erro messages in the order below. I'm very disappointed.
