Currently on ARIS 9.8 (on-premise installation)
Understand that the next version is ver10.
Would there be a new on-premise version coming up? Or is SAG pushing for ARIS-cloud adoption?

ARIS 10 is the current release. It is available as on-premise or as cloud product. The choice is up to the customer. With the cloud product customers pay a subscription, so it is OPEX only.
Software AG publishes feature releases of ARIS every 6 months. The current release is 10.0 SR8. The first 10.0 was released in April 2017. Service releases (with odd numbers) between the feature releases only fix bugs. With the ARIScloud Enterprise service you get the opportunity to stay very close to the current release. Software AG will do the release upgrades for you (if I am not mistaken, once a year at least).
ARIScloud enterprise is essentially the full featured ARIS platform you know as on-premise installation with the difference that instead of an upfront licence fee you pay a subscription for the licences and you don't have to run the platform in your own environment.
If at any time a higher release than 10.0 should be published, 10.0 will be supported with maintenance releases for another 3 years. That is the reason why some time in the first or second quarter of 2020 the last maintenance release for 9.8 will be published, three years after the publication of 10.0.
