Hi All,
Our users are using Business Designer when connecting through the Web Client. There are more users than License Keys, so they frequently get the License Key conflict error followed by a form to enter a new License Key.
The following problems occur:
1. If you enter the same License Key that is currently being used, it doesn't tell you that it is already being used. It continues to the Login Wizard. On the Login Wizard the Database combo box is empty, so the only option you have is to either close or cancel. If you now re-open the Business Designer you are back at the License Key conflict.
2. If you enter a different License Key than the one currently being used it continues to the Login Wizard. On the Login Wizard the Database combo box is once again empty, so the only option you have is to either close or cancel. At least now if you re-open the Business Designer you are allowed to login.
As you can see these are not the expected behaviors and really takes a long time just to get working in Business Designer.
Questions:
1. Is there a way to let Aris notify you if you entered an already used License Key?
2. Is there a way to let Aris populate the Database combo box after you change the License Key?
Workaround Questions:
3. Is there a way to see in real time what users are logged on and what License Keys they are using? (Other than Site Administrator)
Version Information:
Aris – 7.1.0.490292 (SR 2010_07)
JRE – 1.6.0_21
I have attached of what the Login Wizard looks like with the blank Database combo box.
Thank you.

Hello Freddy,
for our environment i would also like to have a real dynamic license server function built into business server, but as far as i know it is only able to reject connections.
An answer to your workaround question 3. you will find here
A possible solution to avoid license conflicts is to distribute named user license keys by means of the user.cfg from a central source (we use a software depot) and manage the license inventory there (mark a license as used). The user.cfg has to be placed in %userprofile%\ARIS71\ prior to login.
Hope this helps, Martin
