With all professional repository based tools, simple import and export does not tell the full story. Each of the tools, such as Aris, Casewise, Proforma, MEGA and Sustem Architect use a very complete underlying meta-model. This meta-model is what maintains the relationships and ultimately the integrity of the information held in the tool. Some of the vendors such as Casewise and MEGA have put a lot more effort into ways of importing data into their tools than others.
Whilst simple information can easily be extracted and re-used in another product. The question always remains what is it that you seek to gain? vs. what might be lost.
There are some specialist providers who develop interfaces, but even with these there is the potential to lose quite a lot of potentially valuable work.
