Sorry for this question...I was not able to find the solution alone...
In the demo MashApp "Demo feature overview", on the tab "Tables" I can see in the top right table (headed "Table with custom styling & font settings"), that column "2004" is sorted in descending order. How can I achieve this? In my table always the last column is sorted in ascending order.

This feature is valuable for me.
I was looking in chapter "7.1.1 Table" for a description. If it is not documented there it may make sense to add a hint there.
@Mr. Stephan Freudl - my installation of MashZone is not behaving as you describe. When I get the blue border, my columns refuse to drag. They resort when I click the header, but when I try to drag the column header to a new order, it refuses to budge.
Any ideas how to correct this issue, or at least an alternative way to move the columns?
I think you are referring to MashZone 2.2 - while the post was based on MashZone 2.1. Our developers introduced some changes to the table (in order to properly support MashZone Viewer). Let me check if this affected column sort order.
In the meantime you may change the sort order in the table's data assignment. On the right hand side of each column there are arrows to move this column up and down.

To specify default column width and order as well as row sorting you may utilize MashZone Composer. Double click the table widget until it has a blue border. Apply settings a MashApp should initially show, e.g. by dragging columns or clicking headers for sorting, and double click the table again to leave the edit mode.
While hovering a table some text provides a hint to this - little bit hidden - feature.
