Hello,

I am trying to print my model to a pdf format from the Development Database.  How is this accomplished?  Is it possible?

Thanks,

Jimmy Griffin

Hi Jimmy,

If you print from the Business Publisher, it's PDF by default. If you're printing from ARIS Business Architect or Designer, you can download (free) from the internet "Cute PDF Writer." When you install, it shows in the drop-down list of printers. Just an idea for 'ya!

Best Regards,

Bob

Bob-

I am a very new ARIS functional administrator and am interested in finding out if/how to change the Business Publisher default printing to PDF's.

Can I setup a printer in addition to the PDF, or in place of the PDF?

Thank you,

Chris

Does anyone know if there an easy way to show the name of the process flow and the date on the PDF that is created?

Darlene

Hello Chris,

You insert model attributes on your model - "Names" & "Last Change" before printing. Please note this can happen only if you have access to the model through Designer or Architect. Else, you can create a macro which can insert these attributes every time a model is saved.

Cheers, Bharat

Hi Bob,

I have another questions regarding printing a PDF in publisher. Where does the PDF file go to?

When I print from the publisher, the programm tells me it is creating a PDF, but after that nothing else happens. So I cannot choose where to send the PDF.

Thanks for your input

Bruno

Hi Chris,

The Business Publisher prints a PDF file by default. This file can then be saved as a PDF or can be printed to your default printer. Further, if you left click on the PDF image (the graphic turns "blue") you can then right click and "copy" the image and paste into some other program (e.g. PowerPoint).

I don't have an answer to the second part of your question, sorry!

Best Regards,

Bob

Hi Bruno,

The behavior you decribe typically occurs when there is a pop-up blocker turned on.

Usually, it's the browser pop-up blocker but, it happened to me once where I had a Google toolbar with the pop-up blocker turned on. As I didn't have the Google toolbar displaying at the time, this was a bit more challenging to figure out, as you could imagine (basically being stopped by a pop-up blocker that was running in the background).

Best Regards,

Bob

Hi Bob,

tried your idea and turned off the internet pop-up blocker. There was some change. Now I first have the window telling a PDF is created, followed by a second window that flashes by and is completely blank. So I still don't obtain the PDF file. :-(

What else do you suggest?

thanks in advance,

Bruno

Hi Bruno,

It's still sounding like a pop-up blocker to me, or possibly an ad-blocker. Check for toolbars not being displayed (Google, Bing, Ask, etc.) which may have pop-up blockers enabled.

I understand there are some issues with browsers other than IE but, of course, I don't know if this applies in your case (and I know you are a knowledgable user of the tool so, you probably know this already).

Another place to look for a solution is the ARIS Solutions Database on SAG's web site.

Hope this helps some Bruno!

Best Regards,

Bob

Hello. I am trying to print all models that we have at one time. Is there a way 'batch print' all existing models at once? Or maybe some sort of export function?

Thanks,

Russ

Did you try the report "Create process manual"?

Hi Rune. We only have access to Business Publisher. We do not have any Business Architect licenses at this time. Is their a way to do this from Business Publisher? I have tried exporting models from Business Publisher to PDF but only the headers are being exported, not the actual model. Any thoughts. Thank you for you help.

Well, Publisher is meant for browsing and navigating through process models, not for reporting. Without Architect you can't configure Publisher to get an ARIS report added.

Hi Rune. We now have access to the Business Architect. You had mentioned looking into the Create Process Manual report. Is this a standard report I can run through BA?

Yes, that report is a good starter. It depends on your requirements whether that report suits you, as e.g. not only the process graphic but also process context information gets printed into a PDF.
