Hi Everyone

This is my first post so please be gentle.  I have started looking to create ARIS dashboards using connect and wondered if anyone has any learnings they can share or share dashboards they have created to see what the possible is using connect.

Thanks

Dear James,

Have you already imported the provided sample dashboards which come with every ARIS? They give you a good impression what you can achieve by using dashboards.

In ARIS help you can read How to make dashboards available as they come with sample data files which need to be imported in ARIS Document Storage in order to get the dayhboard filled with data.

Thanks, everyone for the responses. Is there any learning material you would recommend on how to use all the functionality for developing dashboards with working examples ie remove duplicates with your data feed etc?

Dear James,

I use the following workaround for finding and eliminating abandoned data feeds. Means, getting rid of such data feeds which are no longer consumed by a dashboard:

  1. Backup all dashboards
Click the Export all icon to backup all your dashboards.
Open the resulting file exportAll.zip and check in folder feeds the number of folders which equals the number of data feeds being used by your dashboards. In case you have unused/abadoned data feeds in ARIS that number of feeds in your export archive is smaller compared to the number shown when selecting all data feeds in ARIS.

  2. Backup all data feeds
Click the Export all icon to backup all your dashboards.
This enables you to have all your current data feeds for reusing at a later point in time.
Watch out that the both export functions unfortunately create the same file name. So, your exported feeds might be named exportAll(1).zip.

  3. Delete all feeds and dashboards in ARIS
Select all dashboards and click Delete icon. Do the same for the data feeds.
This results into empty lists of both dashboards and data feeds.

  4. Import again all dashboards
By importing the exported dashboards from exportAll.zip only those data feeds are being imported which were in use by at least one dashboard at the time of the export.

Now you have all your dashboards back in ARIS, but only those data feeds are left wihch were still in use at the point when the export took place.

Cheers
