ARIS Advanced

Hi 

Using the ARIS Advanced I don't see any option to consolidate these objects via User Interface, as you know this option is available in Architect.
Perhaps you can customize a script and there are some topics in this community about reports and consolidation.

AFAIK the consolidate feature in Connect is only available in the Aris Enterprise Edition and with ARIS Enterprise Admin license (cf. https://docs.aris.com/latest/yay-configure-administrate/en-us/538730-consolidate-objects.html)

There is also a standard report Consolidate objects in the category Administration ( https://docs.aris.com/latest/yay-configure-administrate/en-us/33878-report--consolidate-objects.html  ), but no tool support to identify the duplicate objects before.

What you could do is to customize the report Output occurrences of objects to give a flat list into Excel and use Excel to find duplicate or namesake objects.

Consolidation of objects is one of the most important admin tasks to provide a clean environment for process modeling. It's again (see my commments regarding Advanced with no availability of AI) not understandable that this is not available in Advanced. I cannot understand the product and licence policy of SAG Aris. 

@SAG: Your customers are not only large enterprise organizations or is this the new sales&marketing focus?

Thanks all. I do agree not all customers are large and we have a corporate standard that Java cannot be loaded onto work machines. This means that I have no way to do this without using a personal machine. 

Please add this functionality to Advanced.

Object Consolidation Script – User Guide

This script is designed to identify and consolidate duplicate ARIS object definitions within a selected folder and all of its subfolders.

The script searches for objects with the same object type and exactly the same name. The first dialog displays the detected duplicate groups, including the object name, object type, and number of definitions. After selecting an object, the second dialog shows all corresponding definitions together with their folder location, Creator, and Time of generation.

The user then selects the definition that must remain as the master definition. All other duplicate definitions are consolidated into the selected master using the standard ARIS consolidation mechanism. Existing occurrences and references are reassigned according to the standard ARIS consolidation behavior.

Important requirements and precautions

• All ARIS models must be closed by all users before running the script. No user should have any affected model open during consolidation.
• A full database backup must be created before using the script. Consolidation changes object definitions in the repository and cannot be treated as a simple reversible editing operation. This precaution also applies when using the standard ARIS object consolidation functionality.
• Carefully verify the selected master definition before confirming the operation. All other duplicate definitions in the selected group will be consolidated into it.
• The script should preferably be tested first in a non-production or test environment.

Disclaimer

The script performs repository-level consolidation and should therefore be used only by experienced ARIS users or administrators.

The script is used entirely at the user's own risk. BPS assumes no responsibility or liability for data loss, incorrect consolidation, repository inconsistencies, or any other consequences resulting from its use.

The irony is that the Consolidate objects script is available (by default) only for the Architect users. 

Unfortunately, Advanced users are cursed to use the web 'masterpiece' only.
