process chains opening as view-only

It is possible that

• a different user has opened the model in write mode
• an administrative lock was set on the model, e.g. if an approval workflow is running for the model, this might lock the model, so the approver can be sure of what he is approving.
• an administrator set a lock manually for this model.
• you don't have write permissions on the group, where the model resides.

I know this issue, too. There are two things that may help. 

I'll just mention the easiest one - if it doesn't help, let me know.

in the connect user manager select priviledges, then license priviledges.

Under ARIS Connect designer cou can find another tab "active sessions". Under active sessions you can kick out users easily. So, if the model is locked by your user, simply kick yourself out :)
