I'm looking for a way to depict relationships/connections between objects in a Spreadsheet Model in order to protect them from Reorg destruction.
I've come across the 'IS_CONNECTED_BY' function and would like to understand how it is used and what it depicts in the Spreadsheet Model. Also, I've tried using this function but cannot get it to work.
Any insight or guidance would be well appreciated.
Thanks,
Ryan
Hi Ryan,
To my knowledge speadsheet models are not a good choice for that (just like matrix models). Because objects and their relationships are not expressed in "real" models the objects and their connections are deleted during re-org.
I would create a "dummy" model where I express those objects and their connections. Then you can reuse them in the spreadsheet model and they won't be deleted during re-org. Hope this helps.
Best,
Veronika
Hi @veronika
By default, objects and relationships which do not have occurrences in models but who are present in a Matrix model are not deleted during a database reorganization (this behaviour can be changed by changing an evironment variable when executing the reorganization)
Hi @Michel, can you tell me which variable that is? :)
I think this will delete connexions which exist only as definitions in matrix models (which is not the default behaviour of reorg):
reorg dbname CXNDEFS_IN_MATRIX_MODELS
