Did you ever try to figured out or interested to know overall-meta-model of ARIS Entire Method Filter? Trust me you do not b/c it's messy and requires huge amount of Memory but no worries i have go the results to show the big picture of entire method.

What will you be more interested is to see the relationship among objects, which model types and what available connection etc of only the part or subset of Entire Method. Yes you can generate filter report but you cannot customize the report if you want to see portion of your meta-model.

For instance, you logged-on to DEMO DB via DEMO DB Filter and now interested to view the relationship between Application System type, and Service Type and Organization Unit which is allowed by DEMO DB Filter.

(These are all the object types available in DEMO DB FILTER)

STEP#1

Select Object Types

Based upon object type selection, now you want to only select those model types that allowed those object types:

STEP#2

Select Model Types which will be filtered based upon object types selected in STEP#1.

Let say you only want to instantiate a portion of models types as shown below.

Then the select model types and symbols will be instantiated (sample shown)

But the above instantiated model types are not sufficient you want more. You want to have a big picture or overall picture showing what relations are possible between objects like in Application System Type Model it will not show relationship to business service or organizational unit.

So you logout- and relogin with ENTIRE METHOD Filter and then run the macro again at the folder that contains instantiated model and symbols.

And you will get the big picture as:

As you can see, Application System Type (symbol number 1145) is not connected or cannot be connected to other symbols based upon model types selected in STEP#2. Similarly there is no link between Organizational Unit 144 and IT System Symbol based upon selected model types in STEP#2. If you highlight the link it will show the name of relationships. In the above picture Org Unit and Business Service can be linked with two relationship possible provides and uses. If you want to know which model type supports those relationship, you can select the organizational unit instantiated symbol and check relationship and then relationship occurrences as shown below:

The below is the big picture or overall picture of ARIS DEMO DB (just select all the object types in step#1 and all model type in step#2).

It's more convenient to use Navigation Control. So disconnected symbols are shown:
