Hi,

trying to import process maps from visual paradigm.

Aris can import *.xml files, but I always have this error

"You need an extended license to import this file type."

How can I make it work?

Hi Alex

You can only import encrypted xml files in ARIS Cloud Basic/Advanced.

I assume to import this type of maps you need a customer specific report.

Christoph

Hi Christoph,

how is "encrypted xml file" to be interpreted in this context?

Best regards

Hi Christoph,

OK, the XML files must conform to the ARIS XML Schema (or DTD). This requirement IMHO prohibits exports from Visual Paradigm to be imported.

And the ARIS XML files are encrypted? Why?

Or are these files just encoded, but not encrypted?

enCRYPTed is derived of CRYPTographic. Is the XML file cryptographic encoded?

Best regards

Carsten

Hi Alex

Software AG offers an additional consulting service that can create ARIS script reports for customer. Via such an ARIS script you could e.g. create an interface to import XML files from 3rd parties.

Hi Carsten,

in ARIS Cloud Basic and Advanced decrypted XML files cannot be imported. In ARIS Cloud Enterprise or ARIS on premise this is possible via an additional extension pack.

Only with this extension pack the customer is able to unlock and enable indirect access to ARIS data and its repository content by any external third-party/ non-ARIS application.

Main intention of this extension pack is to restrict and avoid usage and exchange of ARIS data and its repository contents with other, external products.

Yes. The xml file has to be conform with the ARIS dtd. Therefore a customer specific interface could help on. The file is encrypted.

regards

Christoph
