Hi all,
Most like a silly question, BUT, is it possible to access a particular Mashapp of mine when not on my computer which I originally downloaded Mashzone on (ie. a random computer to demonstrate a Mashapp which Mashzone is not currently installed on)?
NB. I am currently using the free version of the application.
I did see 'Call MashApps via URL' as a possible solution via the user manual but was not sure if MashZone installation on the computer was required. If it is the case that to simply VIEW a Mashapp a computer requires MASHZONE to be installed, is there a means to view my account off another computer (not the one I had installed and originally access Mashzone using)?
Thanks, A
Hi,
of course, you can safely do this. MashZone is client server based. Based on what you describe - currently - both reside on one machine.
If you want to demonstrate, e.g. on your colleague's machine, a MashApp you need to ensure some things:
- Both computers need to be up and running at the same time
- Both computers need to be connected via network
- Your computer takes the MashZone server's role. Therefore it needs MashZone to be installed and running.
- Your computer's firewall must be configured to accept incoming HTTP requests. Based on the URL you mentioned before your local administrator might support.
- On the colleague's machine you need the URL to the MashApp you want to demonstrate. Invoke the Share action for your MashApp and select save and sent eMail. This should be the easiest way to pass this link over.
- Nothing needs to be installed on the colleague's machine. He only needs a Flash enabled browser. Everything else is handled automatically.
- Make sure you are logged out on your computer before the demo starts. One user may authenticate at the same time only once.
If you and your colleague want to be online at the same time you may license another user.
