In April 2010, Software AG acquired RTM Realtime Monitoring GmbH, an innovative spin-off from the University of Marburg in Germany that has developed a novel technology, based on a long-term research project. This so-called CEP engine is designed for high-volume, low-latency event processing and is able to process event streams on-the-fly. It derives meaningful events out of data streams provided by different IT systems with the ability to immediately trigger appropriate actions.
