Dear All,
I wanted to ask you about ARIS-SOLMAN Sync.
We are synching our ARIS database to a SOLMAN implementation Project now and I was wondering about a few things:
- Once we are done with the Implementation Project and it’s a solution now. Will ARIS still be connected to that solution and we can update our Business Processes in ARIS and sync them there?
- If we have another new Implementation Project, should we have more than one ARIS Database? Each one connected to each project? OR we can just have one ARIS Database connected to more than one Implementation Project/solution?
Thanks in advance everyone.
Hello, Faysal!
- Unfortunatelly, solution cannot be synchronized with ARIS. It was an idea, that solution is using for current situation and business process monitoring. If you need to change something - you have to create implementation project, sync it with ARIS for modelling and after, when all changes will be done in implementation project - roll it back to solution.
In order to avoid this situation (because you cannot manage you minor releases / change directly in Solution) - you can use Template type of project for "AS IS" situation. It can be sync with ARIS in any time. So minor releases will be maintainted in Template - ARIS Global Repository, major releases in Implementation projects - ARIS implementation databases - First point - connection is 1 to 1. One project in SOLMAN - one database in ARIS. You sync function in ARIS can work with one project in SOLMAN. Second point - I would recommend to use one global template in SOLMAN and one global repository in ARIS. All information should be there. If you have new Implementation project - create new database in ARIS and create new project in SOLMAN, sync them between each other. But after finalization (closing) - bring new data in global template (SOLMAN) with compare & adjust and global repository (ARIS) with database merging.
P.S. you can contact me directlly, but maybe it's better to discuss things here..with communitry.
Regards,
Maxim
Thanks a lot Maxim for your reply
It was the strategy I'm using, but I wasn't sure if there is actually a better way to connect projects in ARIS and SOLMAN.
BTY, usually I sync back to ARIS without a problem, but I did a sync back today from SOLMAN to ARIS and it changed the way that Business Proccesses are shown.
our business processes in ARIS are column-based EPC and when I synced back, I found out that ARIS made new folders under the project folder in ARIS, different than the original one, and they were in a normal workflow sequence "Not EPC"
The original folders that has the original synced processes were not changed!
Any idea why did this happen?
