I've noticed on the top section of the models in ARIS Business Publisher there are some viewing options.
1. Activities
2. Model
3. Process Overview
4. Only Relevant Events
5. Simplified Process
6. Entire Process
7. Process Matrix.
Could someone advise what these are for and what's the best practise method to use this? I'm sure these will have an impact on the way the processes are modelled. I'd like to the impact please.
I was wondering if there was a way to switch between views in ARIS BP. E.g. have 3 views (1) entire process with all exceptions, (2) show the most likely path in a process (i.e. no exceptions) & (3) show all exceptions.
Hello,
details can be found in the ARIS Business Publisher online help directly within the export.
In general we offer different views to visualize the model content.
Activities:
Provides a table of all activities contained in a model. All symbols that represent an activity are listed. It provides you with a quick overview of related responsibilities and activities.
Model:
Displays the model graphic as defined within ABA or ABD.
Process overview:
Creates a graphic that only shows the process steps.
Only relevant events:
Hides events that do not contain any special informational value.
Simplified process:
Hides all objects that are modeled in the assigned function allocation diagram.
Entire process:
Additionally shows all objects in the EPC that are modeled in the assigned function allocation diagram.
Matrix:
Generates a process matrix based on the current model. In the Matrix module, you can create matrices of one or several models. This allows you to examine various aspects of object relations.
Not all views make sense to be displayed for each model type. E.g. the „Activities“ view doesn’t make sense for an organizational chart based on the fact that no activities are contained within the model.
Which view will be displayed for which model type is configured within the file “layout.cfg.xml”.
Best regards,

When printing the Activities tab it works well for a small model (one page worth of data), but when printing a larger model, the first page has only the model header and the rest of it is blank. The next pages are populated with data that belongs on those pages... so the page one info is never printed.
Has anyone else run into this issue or is it just my team?
Thanks!

Hi Heiko,
I was wondering why in Model view the connection between objects can not be selected. We capture attribute information in connection. We can select the connection in ABA or ABD and obtain the information from properties tab. However in ABP the connection can not be selected. Is there a way to select connection in ABP? It would be beneficial for the operations guy to see the connection attributes in ABP which process modellers have captured in ABD or ABA.
We are using ARIS 7.1 (SR9).
Your help would be much appreciated.

Hi guys,
Another thing I noticed is that when I switch between these views on ABP, the layout (lines and placement of objects) goes out of whack.
For e.g. the model looks neatly arranged as I intended it to be under the "model" view. But when I switch to the "simplified" view, the connections overlap, objects are moved to the center of the page, events are pushed to the far right etc.
Is there anything I can do while modelling that would ensure that the models look clean?
Cheers
