Hello all, I have a lot of experience with modelling tool, but are just starting with Aris IT Architect. So far, the experience has been pretty good. I have one mind boggling and nasty problem though. My colleagues have extended the Aris method with a few model types, and created a filter to select only these model types and objects we find relevant in our case. The problem is, that when I import the filter, checking the 'Import Method Extension' I would expect the new model types to appear in my repository as well. As you can guess, that's not the case. I even imported the Entire Method filter again, but the models remain missing. I am even missing (as far as I know) standard objects, like the 'Is made of' connector. It's not in my method and I simply can't use it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Gerco
After importing the new filter you have to log out of the database and log back in using the new filter. If you have not changed your settings the filter is defaulting when you open the database. After logging out, right-click on the database and select Login. On the first screen you will be prompted for user name and password, click next and the second screen will alllow you to select the desired filter. You can change your settings for future logins by going to View -> Options and selecting Log in.

Hi Rick,
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, this doesn't work.
When I do that, the new models are not there. Even when I log in with the Entire Method filter, the diagrams are not there. Also in the Administration tab, checking the method config they are not there either.
The strange thing is that even native method objects like the 'Is Made Of' connector is missing.
It seems that the method config is corrupted or something. Is there a way to reload the method in Aris (I tried loading the Entire Method filter, but that didn't work).
Thanks,
Gerco
Hi Gerco,
Did you check if the problem still exists after changing the license keys? From your description of the problem, it might be that the license key which your machine is using does not incorporate the access to use some of these models and connections, hence, you can't see these models/connections that should be in the entire method of the other machine.

Unfortunately, none of the mentioned solutions is working.
When I am using the system superuser, with all privileges granted, the diagrams still remain missing.
Also when using the license key of my colleague (who added the keys), that doesn't solve the problem.
Mr Grandia
I experienced the same problem. I found out that adding a new database (most likely created on a seperate ARIS Business Server/Lokal client) the ARIS Method was extended with new models and object and symbols, available for all databases.
Therefore I use the added database only as a reference database so that the method contains all objects we want for our EA. The filter we have created, based on the extended ARIS Method, only regulates the usage of the models, objects and symbols.
My conclusion is that by just importing a new filter, the method doesnt extend. One have to restore a database with new models, objects and symbols in order to extend the method.
I might be wrong, but it if I´m not, then your problem might not be solved. I would really appreciate if we found an fina answer to this problem.
kind regards
