Hello,

I am new to ARIS.  As a result I have no idea if my question is meaningful or really silly.  I'm wondering if there is an object model of the ARIS object types and if the objects are related in an object-oriented type of way where "sub-objects" inherit attributes from their super object.  If the model is object-oriented in this way, is there some way to produce a report showing these relationships?

Hi Graham,

I think your question is very valid. ARIS has an object model, but it isn't object oriented. So modelling objects don't inherit properties of parent objects. The only exception is UML diagrams, because here the language modelled in ARIS requires inheritance.

To learn more about the ARIS object model, I suggest you try to get hold of one of the ARIS books by Prof. Scheer. It doesn't really matter if it is one from the 1990th or more recent, because the overall idea how the object models works hasn't changed.
