I have installed ArisExpress 2.4 on my Windows 7 PC.
The URL http://banner.ariscommunity.com/ is being blocked by our firewall. When opening this URL in a browser it only shows a 2x1 pixel image.
According to the FAQ at http://www.ariscommunity.com/aris-express/installation-faq#internet this would cause ArisExpress to display a default banner. However this is what I get:

Before the URL had been blocked it showed a banner about e-cards.
Any idea what is going wrong?

right, currently, this URL shows a banner about e-cards. From time to time, we change this, e.g. if there is some event to be announced etc.
I think your firewall just does not block it completely, so Express does not receive a timeout but delivers "something" (whatever that is) back, which is displayed.
Question: why do you block it? Anyway: if you really want to block it, just blocking it completely, so Express runs into a time-out would be better. Then, the default banner is shown.
