I realize that the Service Collaboration Diagram is a legacy from IT City Planning. However, other models (methods) featuring the Business Service [Service Type] fit (or have been changed to fit) quite well into ARIS SOA methods. I like it as it allows connections not allowed by the Service Allocation Diagram. But would be happy to learn:
1. How does it fit in the overall ARIS SOA method? and
2. How it is used in plactice? I'm curious to learn about various applications including 'exotic' ones.
I would like to put a similar question regarding the new Business Service/Information Diagram included in the TOGAF9 method extension. Would it be standard in the the ARIS SOA Architect and if yes what is the envisaged usage.
Thank you!
Ivo
Ivo,
1. Could you please clarify what should fit into the method? Service Collaboration Diagram?
2. One of the examples of usage of Service Collaboration Diagram could be the newest ARIS Telecom Reference Model, which uses SCD to show relationships between functional components of TAM.
TOGAFv9 ADM is one of metamodels supported by ARIS method and Business Service\Information Diagram is one of supported viewpoints. SCD is another viewpoint supported by ARIS. To some extent elements and their relationships can be reused across viewpoints coming from different methods
