Hi there,
i'm writing my bachelorthesis about process optimization in the logistic. To visualize my processes I create a EPK with Aris Express. To involve the other sights of the Aris House I tried to create a VKD (Vorgangskettendiagramm) as well, but I don't even find the way to do it. Is it possible that this way of documentation is not longer available in the Aris Businessarchitect? I did not find it in the Model-Assistant.
Im very thankful for every little hint!
Best wishes
Thomas
Dear Thomas,
In ARIS Express there's a model type EPC (EPK) but NOT PCD = process chain diagram ( VKD = Vorgangskettendiagramm). Latter model type is only in the commercial product ARIS Business Architect.
For whatever reasons, you have to type PCD (VKD) in new model assistant in Architect to find it. The full name is not listed there, but only in the ARIS method help (Methodenhilfe).
More details about PCD/VKD are available in chapter 3.2 of the ARIS method documentation (ARIS-Methodenhandbuch).
As a side note, PCD (VKD) are not so often used, because the EPC doesn't "squeeze" objects in predefined columns. Funny thing is, that mayn people like such fixed columns layout as horizontal swimlanes (rows) in BPMN.
Does this help?
Cheers
Rune
Hi Thomas,
If you are still looking for a possibility to use ARIS Business Architect you might want to check out our offering for students to use it for free during their thesis.
For more information have a closer look at your page: http://www.ariscommunity.com/university

Hi,
I'm trying to indicate the type of processing in a PCD. i.e. as manual / Dialog / Batch.
How do I do this? Do I have to display an attribute of the function? Or do I use a specific symbol? Or is it a simple as adding a free-symbol into the column?
Thanks,
Marian
