We have two business architect licenses. One of the users has left and his laptop has been rebuilt. How can I get back the license that was he was using?

Hi Luise,

I'd say, if the original list of licenses is not available to you, it may be easiest to contact your sales rep and ask to have the licenses re-issued.

Best Regards,

Bob

Hi Luise,

The key will be displayed in the log files if you have accounting enabled on the server - go to server/accounting/last date you know the user logged on

Kind regards,

Anita

Is there any way to transfer an existing (known) license key from one user to another?

We currently have 2 IT Designer licenses that are assigned, but one user is not actively using the software and we've just hired someone new.  We would like to transfer the license from Person A to Person B.  However, when Person B enters the license key, they get an error that the license key is already in use.

Any ideas?

Please disregard my previous message.  We were able to get it to work.

How did you manage the problem?

Hi Christian,

It turned out to be a red herring. A license may be officially assigned to a particular user but in fact whoever opens ARIS first in the morning can take any license they want, anyone else trying to use that license later in the day will get an error message saying it is already in use.

In our case our business architect licenses were for a different version of the software than was installed, and that was why the user was getting an error message when trying to open ARIS.

Hope this helps,

Luise

Hi Christian,

Ours turned out to be basically the same as the last paragraph stated above by Luise;  the user was selecting the wrong software when trying to enter the license key.  For example:  the license key was for IT Architect but they were going in to IT Designer.

Hope that helps.

Is there a way to generate a license usage report from ARIS?  We have many licenses and many people changing roles, so we need to reassign and to see the availability ongoing.

Thank you for any insight!

Hi Wendy,

You can check any time under  server/accounting/date
