Hi,
We have been running the process generator to extract, update and import attribute information of objects from our ARIS environment. The process seems to work well for a small subset of Application System Type (AST) objects (<100), however when trying to upload the full set via import Process Generator macro (around 732 ATS objects each having 8 attribute fields), the updates are not applied. When checking the XML file created by the synchronisation process in the generator, all changes seemed to have been applied correctly, however when imported into ARIS they are not displayed. Are you aware on any restrictions i.e. on the maximum amount of data that can be imported via the Process generator?
Appreciate any help.
Thanks
Martin James
Martin,
In cases when you need to upload bigger number and/or connections, I'd suggest you use "Import data in Excel format". The report can create models, objects and assignment relationships. The import is based on an Excel template that you output using the "Create template for data import" report. I don't know what are limitations of the Process Generator but I remember using the other method for import of over a thousand objects. The mapping is based on the API name but for user defined-attributes GUID could be used instead. However, when you have many custom attribute types, it's much faster with Process Generator as they are automatically included when you "export" your "sample" objects with the macro.
Hope that helps a bit
Ivo
In loading models and objects via import data in excel format, I noticed that the max numbers of models created was 83. Strange number. I was attempting to load 277. No errors, looked like the import was successful but anything over the 83rd model went into the netherworld...
