Currently (from SR12 upwards) this is the easiest way:
- Open a model in the Connect design view in which you want to create objects from Excel (or CSV) data.
- Select the icon "Create objects" from the "Start" toolbar.
- Copy&Paste from the Excel table to the dialogue that appears.
- You will be asked what type of objects you want to create and which column shall be mapped to which attribute.
Alternatively there is the old method using the Excel import report. That one can also create connections between objects and generate a multitude of hierarchical models in one go, if you like. However filling that Excel template is a bit of a hassle. Search through the forum, there should be quite a few articles on this topic already.
