Greetings,

I would like to build a model the lists Applications and Platforms. Which model would best represent this and which object would I use to represent an application and which object would i use to represent a platform?

Thank you!

Jim

Hi Jim,

sorry, but I have to ask: Which modeling notation do you use?

I only can recommend

  • Archimate
  • EPC
  • BPMN and
  • UML

as modeling notations. Just because all others IMHO are simply not sufficiently popular.

With Archimate I would place Applications in the Application Layer and Platforms like JEE or .NET in the Technology Layer.

With EPC and BPMN I only would model processes, so I would at most model the behavior of an application using one of these notations.

Using UML -- for me profiles are an integral part of UML -- I would make apllication and model stereotypes applicable to components.

Hope that helps
