Hi Community,
I would like to review our ARIS database to make sure that all models created, are somehow linked to a higher model through an assignment. If this is the case, any model could be reached starting from a graphical "home" page (navigation by clicking).
Now, my question is whether within ARIS Business Architect a report exists that would list all models that are NOT linked to a higher model (through assignments)?
I've been looking in the list of reports, but haven't found anything (yet).
thanks in advance for your help.
Hi Bruno,
I built this to try to help you. It doesn't report by exception (it doesn't only show those WITHOUT Superior model assignments but, rather, it shows the full picture, both with AND without Superior model assignments.) I've run this in MS Word first and then copied to Excel. (When I run it in Excel, I get information for each model on a seperate tab/worksheet.....I still don't know what to do about that....maybe you could offer some advice for me there!)
Hi Bruno,
have done a quick check what's possible here in terms of a custom report. Please see it as a first draft, but perhaps it fulfills already your requirement. You run it on a main Structuring or VAC diagram (this diagram itself will not become part of the exception list).

Just let me know if this works for you.
Cheers

Hi Volker,
thanks for the report.
I tried it out on our acceptance database, but came up with a report that listed 794 out of 796 models present in the database and I know there cannot be so many models that have not been assigned.
Could this be due to the fact that we renamed the VACD model type into something else?
I tried myself to adapt Robert's report so it could be applied to a group rather than just a model, but I haven't got the correct solution (yet).
regards
Bruno
Hi Bruno,
Thanks for reviewing the second version above. As you told me the result is now accurate, I am going to check the report script a last time and will create a short note how to use it.
Just let me know if there are further upcoming requirements like this.
Regards, Volker
Bruno,
I usually solve issues like yours based on the XML Export of a corresponding database. The XML data is then transformed with an XSLT that outputs the data as a csv file. This allows to output e.g. unconnected/-used objects, objects of the same type and same name, or e.g. functions that have some predefined "buzzwords" in their name, which we use for a semantic analysis, and much more. What you need is only a few lines more within the XSLT; but, I admit, it is a hack and sort of off-topic as you leave the generic ARIS world. Let me know if you are interested, then I can provide more details and the XSLT...
Take care,
Stefan
Hi Stefan,
Not being an expert in handling XML files and having several people in the same situation within our organisation that will be looking for unassigned models, I must admit that I prefer staying within the "generic ARIS world".
The report created by Volker actually does the job perfectly.
But thanks anyway for the information.
Bruno
