Hi Team,
We want to take restore database "arissystemdb.adb" using ARIS architect and designer .
However when we select this database for import, it does not recognize,
Please help.
Regards,
Yogesh
Dear Yogesh,
The ARIS system database is a special database and can't be handled as a normal user database. That's because it contains all configuration and evaluation content, such as report & macros scripts, filters, templates etc.
When you install (and update) ARIS via setup, the ARIS system database is automatically installed (and updated). Only if you install ARIS manually, e.g. in a distributed environment where the ARIS installation spans across several computers or VMs, or in case you migrate a complete tenant from a former ARIS version, then you need to update the ARIS system database manually after updating ARIS.
The ARIS Server Administrator offers several commands to handle that ARIS system database. But before trying those command, I strongly recommend to read about them in ARIS Server Installation and Administration Guide:
- backupsystemdb exports your current ARIS system database; strongly recommended BEFORE applying any changes
- restoresystemdb resets your current ARIS system database to that content provided by the backup file
- updatesystemdb adds all updates to current ARIS system database; necessary after migrating from a former ARIS version
Cheers
Rune
Thank you Rune, I will definitely go trough it, however in this case we want to merge two different versions used by different department into one version so the configurations and system settings are surely different.
Any other potential areas I need to take care in database migration from 1 version ot other version ?
