I evaluated ARIS Express 2.4 and compared it with the open source community editions of Modelio 3.0 and Bonita BPM Studio. My findings:
I really have to say ARIS Express 2.4 is a very nice tool to draw BPMN2 workflows. Compared to Modelio 3.0 and Bonita BPM Studio 6.2 it offers better drawing capabilities. The pool and lane handling of ARIS Express 2.4 is neat. I also like the IMO very convenient way to position attributes. All in all a good tool to create awesome diagrams.
The modeling features are IMHO very, very limited. Maybe, it is me. But I did not even got guards defined on sequence flows. Even Modelio offers much better modeling capabilities. The best tool I am aware of to model processes using BPMN2 notation is Bonita BPM Studio. Bonita BPM Studio is designed to develop, debug and simulate/run processes. Consequently the modeling features are far beyond BPMN2 (data, user roles, ...).
