Hello Experts,
I have previously used ARIS Desginer and using Evaluations was just a 'right click' on the main Group. That would open Evaluations like Reports, Macros and Queries for me.
Now I am in a new role where we are using ARIS Connect and I don't see all the Evaluation options. Only some reports can be run but no macros or Queries.
Is this something that's yet to be updated in the Cloud edition (Connect)? Pls help.
Thanks
Hello,
Macros in Connect are very limited to responding to events and starting reports. Macros are written with an API that gives a programmer access to the functionality of the Architect/Designer client. So this cannot be available in the Connect Designer, which is built on a completely different technology (Java vs. HTML5). That's why all it can do is start reports, which are executed on the server side and don't have access to what you are doing on the web client, particularly when you have a model open for editing.
Queries are not available in the portal, yet. All you could do would be using their results as a data source for dashboards.
If not all evaluations are available, it may be that this has got to do with your new role. Your administrator can decide, which reports are available in the Connect client and he may also restrict certain evaluations to be used by certain user groups only.
Thanks for the reply... This makes sense.
While generating Reports, Connect lets me run reports only on sub-folder level and not on the Main Group level. Also, if I run a report on a sub-folder that further has drill down sub folders and models/ objects; the report only fetches what's there one level down... not the entire drill down. Any clue why could that be happening? I thought I could do that in the earlier Designer/ Architect client that I was using but now I don't have access to check that.
Thanks.
What the report uses for its analysis is entirely up to the developer of the report. So if it does not drill down it is probably meant that way and you can discuss your requirements with the developers of the report (or your product owner of ARIS).
In the Repository view you can execute reports also on the main group of a database, if any reports are applicable to groups. I just checked it with SR13.
Hi Neha,
I find that queries and ad hoc analyses are quite important, also for designers (and potentially even for viewers). That is why I raised a feature request in the brainstorm tool a while ago.
ID of feature request: 07716
Maybe you could even vote for it? :)
Best,
