Hello community,
I am experiencing a problem with the Perform BSC planned-actual comparison macro in ARIS BSC.
Presume that the KPI "% increase in sales revenue" has a negative actual value attribute due to the economic crisis. The macro is supposed to calculate the degree of goal accomplishment based on the KPIs and their weights. whenever there is a negative actual value, the KPI and the respective goal are not coloured and the degree of accomplishment is not calculated.
Has anyone experienced the same problem? Is there a solution or a workaround for it.
Regards,
Vesko
Veselin, I am the Product Manager for ARIS BSC. Thanks for your post and I completly understand the issue described. I'll check for a solution and come back to you with an answer.
Btw: Have you already heard of the new ARIS Business Strategy which replaces ARIS BSC? Click here for additional information.
Hello.
I'm finding ARIS BSC case. but I can't find other cases easily.
I already read "NET2GAS" case. but that is little rough.
Don't you have more specific cases about ARIS BSC?
because I'm writing a proposal for my customer. and I'll sugest that using ARIS. so I need more information.
If you have more information, Please answer. thanks.
Hi Veselin,
yes the strategy models as the canvas or the new strategy diagrams are in my opinion very helfpul if you want to link the strategy world with strategic changes to business process and applications. If you have additional questions regarding Business Strategy, just send me an email or a message via the ARIS Community.
Regarding the BSC value: We discussed this and unfortunately, there is not a real workaround at the moment. The system ignores negative values and gives you an error sign as negative values are currently not supported by definition. I will see if the concepts can be extended for future releases.
Kind regards
Dominik
Dominik,
Thank you for your help. We think that a workaround could be to interpret negative values as "0". Having a negative actual value for a proportional KPI would render the contribution of the KPI negative when the achievement of the objective is calculated. This way even if the other KPIs for the objective show excellent performance, their contribution to the achievement of the objective will be diminished considerably. I believe that the formula for calculating the achievement of the objectives is KPI weight_1*(actual value_1 - minimum value_1)/(plan value_1 - minimum value_1)+KPI weight_n*(actual value_n - minimum value_n)/(plan value_n - minimum value_n). If a KPI with weight greater than 0.5 is negative, then the achievement of the objective will be negative as well no matter what value the other KPIs have. If the negative values in actual value are interpreted as "0" than this problem will be avoided.
Best regards,
Veselin
