Upgrade from 7.1 to 7.2?

Hi Mr. Wolff,

I successfully upgraded ARIS Business Architect for SAP 7.02 to version 7.1. But, today, when I tried to upgrade from 7.1 to 7.2, I have got an error - invalid license!? I installed 7.1 again :(

What version of ARIS do you have?

We are using ver 7.1 - but I also got the license error on the Business Server (sandbox). On my pc the client part is working fine.

You probably (I got a dev key and can't test it) need a new key, because 7.2 is not a service release of 7.1, but a complete new version.

Please contact our support. They will generate a new key for you if your license contract allows upgrading.

We have successfully upgraded from ARIS 7.1 to ARIS 7.2. We had to upgrade the following components:

1. ARIS Business Server
2. ARIS Platform

Our license keys seem to work correctly. The newer version provides an improved interface with some additional features (SmartDesign as introduced in ARIS Express etc) and additional attributes to maintain for different objects.

We are about to upgrade ARIS 7.1 to 7.2.

I would like to know wich are the main reasons to upgrade (what should I need to decide it, if any functions better develop)

What about with WebMethods 8.0 or 8.0 (integration)

Besides I would like to know if ARIS 7.2 got any trouble to work with:

SAP PI 7.1 ESR?

We are trying now in laboratory 7.3 release.

What about SAP Solman connection. Is there any problem to connect with SOLMAN 7.0 (or the upgrade 7.1- cause we are involved in Solman upgrade too).

We're planning an upgrade and will initially do this in our TEST environment. If everything goes well, we will upgrade in PROD. Would we need a key for each environment? Is everyone having this problem around license key while upgrading?

I can't answer your question whether you need a new key for your test environment, because this depends on the contract you got. For example, if you have something like a company license, you probably won't need a key. The best way to move forward is asking your sales representative or our support.

You will need updated 7.2 keys on server & client.  I got my 7.1 keys updated by the Software AG Support desk.  If you are running seperate databases you can use the same key in Test & Prod.

When you install 7.2 on the server install in the SAME directoty that 7.1 is in.  The client files get loaded into the same local directory when you start-up.

We are running Business Server (Modeling) and APG so I downloaded

ARIS Business Server incl. Process Governance

Is the Aris Platform upgrade needed too?

Ok i upgraded my product but i m facing another problem now,

As u can see 2 of the programs still seems to be version 7.1, Should i restart the server or there is another reason?

ARIS 7.2 gets installed in the same directory as ARIS 7.1. It just replaces the previous version with the newer version. At our end, we did restart the ARIS Business Server to make sure all the changes were properly carried out.

The major reason to upgrade to v7.2 was to take advantage of the cleaner and faster GUI. Now, it is much more convenient to connect objects within various models. In addition to that, there are also some additional attributes available for each object which are very helpful for Cost Calculation through ARIS Business Simulator.

Also, with reference to my earlier post regarding the License Keys, I will make a correction that you need to get the keys upgraded to ensure all the newer attributes are visible for process models and objects. Older keys allow loggin-into the system but the newer attributes are not visible.

I restart it but still 2 of them seems 7.1 as i show before, can anyone help?

We've installed new ARIS 7.2 Biz Server and Biz Publisher in testing environment, and (1) backup ARIS ADB file from ARIS 7.1 Biz Server (Production) and (2) restore ARIS ADB file from ARIS 7.2 Biz Server (Testing).

All the models seemed okay, but the connections were gone while we published models into ARIS 7.2 Biz Publisher.  I don't know what's wrong, and I'd like to ask for here here. Thank you!
