Hi, I have been asked to find objects of the same typewith the same name so we can find objects which we might want to consolidate.
I thought this might be a good opportunity to get into queries, but I cant seem to get the "find objects with the same name" logic I need.
Have you done this or something similar with queries or how would you recommend me to do that?

I haven't done this with a Query before and I would say what I have done isn't the most elegant, but it works. It is somewhat more "brute force".
So, in the Architect Client from the Explorer view if you right click and "Find", the Find dialogue pops up. In the "Find what" there is "Objects with Identical Names". This just give you a list of Identical Names and How Many of Each Identical Name there is. So you don't know specifically what the Object's Path/Folder is. Anyway, like I said somewhat "brute force". Then I do a Find for the Name of Each Identical Object. Now I will get a list of all those objects with that specific Identical Name, and I can Select the Objects in the Find and Consolidate them.
Another way I have done it is just using the Find to get ALL Objects (can do it by Object Type as well if the list is huge). In the Find list I just Select ALL the Objects in the List and Paste them into Excel and then do my own Sorting/Filtering. Then I can determine Identically Names Objects as well as determine Similarly Named Objects.
So again "brute force", but it doesn't take too long and once your Cleanup is done if you have a good Repository Management/Promotion Process you shouldn't get into the same problem again.

Too bad we cant do that with Queries though. I feel like queries in ARIS could offer more than they do right now.

In general, you could say that queries are useful for ad hoc analysis and complex semantic searches. But whenever it comes to mass data, queries are by their nature too slow compared to a report script.
So, for cleaning up the clutter a report script might be more useful as you could schedule it, and automate processing the results.
