Power BI connectivity to Aris

ARIS provides several APIs, including the Repository API and Document Storage API. For third-party integrations (such as Power BI calling ARIS APIs directly), ARIS licensing may apply. Historically, each external system connecting programmatically to ARIS required an API/integration license, and newer ARIS cloud subscriptions may also use API consumption metrics (API Credits).

However, ARIS includes a built-in document storage capability where users can store files such as Excel, PDF, and other business documents. This document storage is embedded in standard ARIS Enterprise installations and is intended to provide access to documents without necessarily using APIs, see: https://aris.com/resources/storing-managing-documents/ 

As the ARIS can be integrated to Sharepoint, can export the data from ARIS using scripts to upload the files using Excel or CSV files into Sharepoint, where can be integrated with PowerBi.

Hi,

Using ADS as an integration point is a good practice. On the ARIS side, you just need to define a user and assign a simple Connect viewer license. That's all - after that you can use an ADS document link as a direct source for Power BI. If you update the document in ADS with the script, it keeps the same document GUID. So, for example, you can update whatever you need (KPIs, process architecture, etc.) with the scheduled script and have very recent data in your source.

You were suggesting about ARIS can be integrated to SharePoint wherein one can place the files from Aris and be consumed with Power BI later. 

Does it involve any Aris API   and API license to Integrate with SharePoint for data export  or is that a non-api approach,please ?

The only caveat is whether your ARIS environment includes the SharePoint Integration Extension and whether any additional license was purchased for that feature. Storing and managing documents in ARIS mentions SharePoint integration as a specific ARIS capability/extension.

ARIS exports files → SharePoint stores files → Power BI reads files from SharePoint

Then this is generally a non-API approach and does not require ARIS REST API licenses for Power BI access.

You should confirm with your ARIS account representative whether, your subscription includes the SharePoint Integration capability.
Any export mechanism used to place data in SharePoint relies on ARIS APIs behind the scenes.

For simple reporting use cases, the SharePoint file-based approach is usually the lower-complexity and lower-cost option compared to direct REST API integration.

The SharePoint Integration is not included in our license . This sneeds to be purchased on top of what we already have. If its usually going to less expensive than APIs license it will be a good approach since the volume and number of documents is not that huge. Its easily manageable.
