If I use the default template and change it to the Default (classic) the method is not changed, but the symbols are changed. However, if I import a filter (e.g. Archimate 3.2 (official style)) then the method is extended with the same symbols which are also available in the Defailt (classic) template. I do not understand this...

Filters affect the availability of objects, connections, attributes, symbols, etc. For example, the Entiry method gives you full access to the method. Simultaneously, templates affect your objects, connections, attributes, symbols, and look (color, size, border, etc.). So everything that is in the template only affects the graphics part, not the method.
