I have been asked to install

ARIS Connect Sever 9.6
ARIS Design Server 9.6
ARIS Process Governance Server 9.6
ARIS Architect Extension pack SAP

The installation manual is confusing.

In the introduction of the "Installation" chapter, the manual says: "ARIS Connect Server, ARIS Design Server, ARIS Publisher Server and ARIS Risk & Compliance Manager Server must be installed on different machines. You can only install one server on one machine."

But in the "Installation Scenarios" it is mentioned that the scenario "ARIS Connect Server Setup" installs ARIS Connect Server containing ARIS Design Server.

I have installed ARIS Connect Server, but how can I check that indeed both Connect Server and Design Server are installed?

You don't really need to check. If you successfully installed Connect server you have all the components of the ARIS Design Server.

ARIS Connect Server consists of some 14 server components (Start ARIS Cloud Controller and use the "list" command to see them). Don't remember exactly how many components Design server has but it's just a subset of the Connect server, i.e. it does not contain the portal and collaboration components.

In 9.6 upgrading attempts, I've faced to the new situation of the Aris server architecture. Working with a few Aris users (less than 10), it was confortable (with the 7.X version) to use only one platform in the datacenter for the Aris deployment. Now, this connect Aris version requires a dedicated server for Publisher role. At least, 2 servers is oversized for 10 people ! Unless, I've missed something or a One Platform usage tip in the Software AG documentation ?

Dear Sylvain,

It is technically feasible to combine Connect/Design Server AND Publisher on ONE machine thanks to the new architecture of ARIS 9.

However, such a scenario IS NOT SUPPORTED. Means, you are on your own when you are running into trouble. So I strongly recommend to stick to our recommendation.
