Dear Colleagues!
Recently we experienced difficulties connecting to ARIS Express Client (new users on version 2.4d). While entering the login/password combination we received “Checking user name and Password" and was unable to connect to ARIS. See attached picture below.
While such a problem does not occur logging in to ARIS Community through the browser to the page ariscommunity.com. We have been using ARIS for about 15 years now without any issues and this is the first.
We use it for educating students at our university located in Michigan, USA. Can you please help at your earliest?
Thank you!
PK
Hi,
current version is 2.4j. Maybe you could update Express on one machine and test with new version?
If that does not work, try to log in with the Express client, close it, and attach the log files located in "%userprofile%/ARISExpress/log" to this post. (but please do this with the new version)
Bye,
Frank
Hello,
are you really sure to have the right version? Few days ago I installed a new Windows PC under Windows 11 with a fresh download from the SAG site of the ARIS community. I get version 2.4j and it works fine. Simple question: Is the Internet connection available during first login?
Regards
Klemens
Hi,
Mine is Windows 10 Enterprise, Chrome and Firefox, both show me the exact same screen while logged in to ARIS: 2.4d download for Windows (as seen in the attached picture above). I do not see a 2.4j. https://ariscommunity.com/aris-express/download
And the internet connection is also strong, and available at first login.
Thank you!
PK
Hallo,
now I understand: The download website still shows 2.4d as actual version. This is a mistake, the website was not edited. If you have a look into the logfiles Frank mentioned in his post Fri, 04/05/2024 - 08:51 I think you will see 2.4j as actual version. Please attach these logfiles as Frank asked for.
A general remark: Having problems with the first connection of ARIS Express is one of the most issues that are posted here in the forum (see different other threads partly in German). Frank is always asking for the logfiles, often without reaction. I am not a SAG consultant, so I have no access to any implementation internals or to the coding. So I only can guess from my experience with a lot of installations with my students that it is a problem with the internet connection. That is not a question of the browser. If you login the first time to ARIS Express the desktop client verifies your account and activates AE. Therefore an open upload internet connection to the ARIS server is needed. You can have issues with your firewall and maybe blocked ports or you are using a VPN. Sometimes it helps to reinstall ARIS Express.
Maybe Frank can give some more hints regarding the internals.
Regards
Klemens
