Hi, may I ask how you guys handle semchecks. Running them in the model and seeing the results is fine - I'd rather wanna know:
- Is anyone of you leveraging the macro which sets the flag to this SEMANTIC_CHECK_SUCCESSFUL? I want to track this attribute in a dashboard to see whether the modeler ran the semcheck or not
- Is anyone triggering a semcheck out of an approval workflow? We played around with a report, but it cannot set the flag either.
Again, for me the holistic view on data quality is key. I need to observe whether the swarm of rogue process modelers follow guidelines or not.
Thanks for your valuable input in advance.

Hi Peter,
I cannot answer your questions but I have some general remarks. Semantic checks can be useful for a modeler not to oversee any syntactical issue or may be given layout or mandatory data demands added company specific to the checking program. But that's it. The quality and correctnes of a model can only be very basically checked by a script. The term "semantic" can lead to the conclusion that there are any content related checks. This is not the truth. Whether a model is a correct representation of an actual process or a desired target process can only be checked by discussions in a team of people having a deep knowledge about the business starting from the companies strategy. So any automated approval is one little step but not the solution to end with good and helpful models.
