An .adb file is a backup of an ARIS database. You can restore the database in your project room using the Administration. If you have the ARIS Basic subscription, you cannot have a second database in your project room and your administration options are limited.
EDIT: If you are only starting with ARIS Basic and you got this .adb from somewhere and just want to work with it, you can open a support ticket and have them install the file in your project room. It would replace any existing work you have.
