Hello!

It is a new ARIS environment (Architect) I haven't used until today. Everything looks as it should and the customer required versioning to be done over 30+ BPMN Collaboration diagram models. The versioning was executed on the models themselves with the following settings:

  • "Assignment handling" was set to "Include border items" option in order to keep the assignments to object in the scope of the versioned models.
  • "Connection handling" was set to "Within the selection".
  • "Assignment level" was set to 0 since assigned models should not be versioned.

Versioning settings

Once the versioning is complete, the following issues occur:

  • Attempts to open a model with specific name actually opens model with another name. Those bizarre openings are always exactly the same, i.e. opening "Model X" will always open "Model Y", so it is not random. Sometimes the correct one is successfully opened.
  • Attempts to access some of the assigned (to objects) models throw the following message:

error message

A lot of various setups were tried in order to identify the issue and none of them yielded a positive result. The models were merged to a fresh ARIS database, languages were created/removed/changed to alternative for the database.

This behavior was observed in 4 different, already existing databases in this particular environment. However, the same issues were discovered in another, completely different ARIS server.

At one point, a brand new database was created and several dummy models of the same type were created in it, with several tasks each, and models were assigned to the tasks. The versioning was performed as described above and with the same settings, and all the models were opened correctly. Assigned models (to the tasks) were accessible with no issues.

ARIS Architect version for both servers 10.0.2.3.1195588

Any advice would be highly appreciated!

Best regards
Tony
