Hello Community,

Could someone explain what is the usage of “Manage announcements” feature that is available in collaboration administration? How we can use this feature to push an announcement to a selected user group?

The pop-up screen only shows title and body of the announcement, how I can share an announcement with a selected user group?

Please advise.

Thank you

Dear Yahya,

Announcements are not meant for selected user groups, but ideal to be shown to all users on top of any feed.

E.g. the next planned downtime or maintenance window could be announced that way to everyone.

Cheers
Rune

Hi Rune,

Thanks for those insights! :)

Can you somewhere configure that the annoucement is also visible on the "welcome page"?

That would be amazing and would facilitate my work a lot.

Best,

Veronika

Hello Veronika,

inspired by a post of Rune and this sophisticated demo page I dared to hack the login page and inserted our company logo, admin contact info and a maintenance banner.

But be aware that still SAG considers this as utterly illegal even if you were trained in connect configuration. Also changes at these locations will be overwritten by an update/patch of connect.

The XML source is part of the global config set which you can reach in an on-premise installation at
\server\bin\work\work_copernicus_m\base\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\config\global\views\error401.xml

Other resources are included from \server\bin\work\work_copernicus_m\base\webapps\ROOT\static\images

For the maintenance announcement I inserted a <div>-block which can be declared as visible when needed. After changing the source code you need to reload the config set.

Regards, Martin

Hi Martin,

Thank's a lot for that hint! I followed Rune's procedure for the error 403 and it worked just fine :)

Unfortunately, I wouldn't have any clue in what to add in which line for the annoncement. Can you advise?

Have a nice weekend!

Best,

Veronika

Back in 2015 I posted about adjusting the ARIS login page. Since a while ARIS offers also customizing the ARIS logout page. That sums up to 3 pages which you should consider to adjust if you want to add information to the login and logout pages:

C:\SoftwareAG\ARIS10.0\server\bin\work\work_copernicus_m\base\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\config\global\templates\logout.html
C:\SoftwareAG\ARIS10.0\server\bin\work\work_copernicus_m\base\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\config\global\views\error401.xml
C:\SoftwareAG\ARIS10.0\server\bin\work\work_copernicus_m\base\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\config\global\views\error403.xml

And images you put in folder: folder C:\SoftwareAG\ARIS10.0\server\bin\work\work_copernicus_m\base\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\config\global\resources\picture

In logout.html you add your information below the line 13:

</button>

And in error401.xml and error403.xml you add your information below the lines 40 or 45:

<!-- div style="overflow:hidden; height:100%;"-->

I think I'd better post a dedicated article about that topic including an example in the ARIS Tech Blog.

Cheers

Thank you all for your inputs and support.

Managing ARIS announcement is our big challenge. I am working for a huge Healthcare corporation with more than 20000 employees. Sometime it is required to push an announcement to only nursing staff notifying them about some changes and updates in nursing processes.

Sending an announcement to all users will be very annoying since we have non-medical staff working in different healthcare domains.

What is the best way to notify a selected user group about process changes and updates?

Please help.

Dear Yahya,

Did you check out what Confirmation and What's new offers?

You can find a chapter in the ARIS online help via https://YourARISserverName/static/help/en/handling/connect/ca/index.htm#358160.htm.

I am sure that either one or a combination would fit to your needs when it comes to making sure that changes in processes get notified by specific user groups.

Cheers
Rune
